A little update

I haven’t blogged since … September I think.  I stopped blogging and focused on making a little website for my tiny baking business. http://www.sweetpotatobakeshop.com.  I’ve been mostly making decorated sugar cookies and though I really like doing it, they are SUPER time consuming and I’m not sure if they’re worth the time.  I have a couple orders coming up and I’m doing all the desserts for my future sister-in-law’s bridal shower in May.  I’m going to make a tiered cake!  I’ve never done that.  We’ll see how it goes.

Sam is now 20 months old and I’m 15 weeks pregnant with baby #2.  We’ve been keeping busy and now that it’s getting warmer, spending as much time outside as possible.  Sam loves to be outside.  He cries every time I bring him inside.  Every time.  Sam is wearing size 2t or 3t clothes and is starting to say lots of words.  His newest word is Obama.  His hair is LONG and grows so fast.  He’s had four haircuts so far and definitely needs one now.  He loves rocks, balls, dirt, anything with wheels, climbing, dancing, silverware, drumming and throwing his food on the floor.  He doesn’t like eating much in one sitting, staying home, being confined to a shopping cart, being held/carried or being inside.  He wakes up around 6:30 am and takes one nap a day at about noon for two hours.  Bed time is now 8 pm.

Aaron has been at his new job as a property manager since December.  He really likes it and he’s able to come home for lunch almost every day which is nice.  He’s been working on the never ending baseboard replacement in our house as well as various other house projects.

As far as the blog goes,  there are a few things that I’ve been wanting to write about so I’m hoping to do a couple of those posts soon.  It’s kid consignment sale season so I thought I would write a post about all the sales I’ve been to because I think it’s useful info and a lot of people probably don’t know they’re out there.  I might also throw in some of my thoughts on local thrift stores.

I also want to write a post about things that we’ve been doing in the area.  Kid-friendly activities in the South Hills.  Maybe park reviews if we venture to other parks than just the Mt. Lebo main park.

Have a good afternoon!

Baby Skinny Jeans

Hello!

It’s Thursday night.  Sam is sleeping and Aaron went to the gym.  I haven’t had much to write about lately so I haven’t posted.  I could have written a third post about sippy cups but I decided against it (though that saga continues..).

We’ve had a pretty low key week.  Sam has a little cold so we’ve stayed in a little more than usual.  Sam slept from 7 pm last night to 8 am this morning!  He did have his usual 5 am nursing session but that’s 13 hours!  So we had a bit of a late start to the day but we left the house around 930 and headed over to a consignment sale in a volunteer fire department in Scott Twp.  I had never been to this one before but unfortunately, it was lame.  Like really lame.  We didn’t buy anything and were in and out of there in about 5 minutes.  Since we still had many hours until nap time, I decided we’d hit up another consignment sale at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

We live south of the city so Washington County isn’t all that far.  It took us about a half an hour or so to get there.  I didn’t have the stroller with me unfortunately so I strapped Sam in the Ergo and we walked in.  This one was called Little Blessings Dressings.  It’s still going on throughout the weekend.

We ended up finding quite a few things.  They don’t have as much stuff as Snugglebugs (another twice yearly consignment sale) but you can find some different things at this one and it’s not as crazy, insane as Snugglebugs.

Here’s what we ended up with:

  • Brown thermal shirt $3
  • Baby Gap skinny jeans $2
  • Zara red corduroy skinny jeans $2
  • Lands End snow pants $3.50
  • Osh Gosh vest $3
  • 3 sets of Children’s Place pajamas $2-3/each

I’m pretty excited about the vest and the corduroy pants.

After we got out of the sale, I let Sam play outside for a bit before we got back in the car since he’d been cooped up all morning.

We saw some horses then I gave Sam a snack and we headed home.

We got home around 1230 and Sam went down for a nap at about 1.  His naps (just one a day) have been only a little over an hour each day this whole week but today’s lasted 1 hour 45 minutes!

Once Aaron got home, we took a family trip to Goodwill because today was apparently all about shopping second hand.  We both love thrift stores/yard sales/estate sales/flea markets.  Sam wore his new jeans thrift shopping.

And that’s Thursday.
